Описание: Located in the "Country of Lapus", Maramures county, at approximately 50 km from Baia Mare and at 43 km from the town of Dej, in the Rohia village that belongs to the city of Targu Lapus, the Monastery "Saint Anna" - Rohia, is a monument of religious art, situated in a picturesque area, on top of a hill, in the middle of a beech and oak forest. The monastery represents for all those that seek peace and spiritual comfort, a very privileged place.

The Monastery "St. Anna" - Rohia was founded by the Romanian Orthodox priest Nicolae Gherman (1877-1959), vicar in the village at the foot of “Viei” Hill - Rohia, in the memory of his daughter. The works to raise the church began in 1923 and were completed after many hardships and sacrifices. The monastery was consecrated in 1926 by Bishop Nicolae Ivan of Cluj, from August 15, at the feast of the Assumption, which become the patron of the monastery. Although the settlement remained for a long time in draft posts, because of the very difficult access, the monastery could develop after 1965 and especially 1970, when it was introduced the electricity and it was arranged an access road.

Thanks to the real vocation of the devoted people, their help have contributed to enriching the monastery Rohia heritage, heritage that consists of the following values: "House of Oak" (1965), "House of the Staretie" (1969-1972), "House of Chapel "(1973-1975)," House of the Poet "(1977-1979)," Altar of summer "(1980-1983),"The Maramures Gate" from the entry of the monastery (1988)," The White House "(1988-1992 ), "The Gate of the village" (1999 - 2001), "The Corner Maramures" consisting of a house and a wooden church (2001) and so on. This monastery represents a settlement of over 70 years of existence hundreds of thousands of Romanians have found material aspirations of nation unity and faith.
Today the monastery "Saint Anna" - is under the canonical protection of Maramures Roman Orthodox Episcopate and of Satu Mare.

The library contains a collection of over 40,000 books: religious books, magazines theological and secular, theological literature, Romanian and universal literature, history, philosophy, legal work and other areas. Recently restored as a small museum, Father Nicolae Steinhardt’s Cell who lived between 1980 - 1989, as a monk of the Rohia Monastery, retained his personal things: manuscripts, books, icons, paintings and furniture. In the monastery's museum there is a collection of old books and a collection of religious icons on wood and glass.

The summer shrine was built between 1980-1983 and used for divine services of Sundays and holidays in summer.
The Icon of the Virgin Mary is located in the basement chapel of the new church , the icon was painted by the monk of Mount Athos, Nicanor.

The Monastery "St. Anna" - Rohia, provides for several days, the tradition of hospitality in the spirit of Orthodox monastic settlements, which host the pilgrims. In addition to free hosting, the monastery offers paid hosting. It can be provided to those who visit the monastery and want to spend the night within the wooden house with a specific “Maramuresean” style. This house has 6 rooms with two beds, three levels, each level with a bathroom.

Located in the "Country of Lapus", The Monastery "St. Ana" Rohia can be found at approx. 50 km from Baia Mare and 43 km from the town of Dej, on the border of Rohia village, that is administrated by the town of Targu Lapus, in the middle of a forest of beech and oak, on top of a hill named “Viei" Hill.

The connection to the monastery is Targu Lapus town which can be found at a distance of about 9 km from the monastery. Targu Lapus can be reached either by the road Baia Mare - Targu Lapus, or on the road Dej
