Documentaries with James and Anya
Описание: Documentary films teach us about the world around us, about it's history, culture, science and nature. In today's interconected world they are a great way of widening your horizons and learning something about everything.
James and Anya are documentary lovers. James is a programmer and former English teacher from the land of the BBC, and Anna is a historian and art lover. They belive that watching films in English is a great way to improve your English. However experience has shown them it works best when:
- You learn something new
- You have subtitles
- You know all the difficult words before hand
- You can do it in a warm friendly atmosphere
Together they hold and have held events where they show documentary films in English with English subtitles. Before the showing James uses his English teaching power's to explain difficult words or phrases and introduce the topic of the film. Afterwards there is an energetic discussion about the film, all painted with the wonderful backdrop of tea and cake.
From 2013 to 2015 James and Anya held their "kinoclub" events at Form school and the British Book Centre in St Petersburg, and from 2016 they will be holding their "kinoclub" in the Leppävaara public library in Finland.
This page will keep you up to date with the events in Finland, but also about documentaries that we liked, and have wached, and chose to share with you :)
We'll also be sharing information about Form's events.
